State of the Greek System at Wisconsin

“The University of Wisconsin-Madison Greek community is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. Greek organizations possess a long and rich history on the UW-Madison campus and have nurtured some major success stories, including seven of the top ten donors to the University. In 2007, ten percent of undergraduate students at UW-Madison belonged to a Greek organization.Currently, the Greek community is made up of 2,700 members. Students involved in fraternities and sororities are active members of the campus and the community.

Over the past year, fraternity and sorority members donated more than 10,000 hours of service to the community and raised over $50,000 for local and national charities. Through involvement in service programs, members develop organizational skills, increase their understanding of civic responsibility, and expand their perspectives of our global society. Fraternity and sorority members at the University of Wisconsin-Madison take great pride in the service they provide to the larger community, and most students say these experiences are among the most rewarding they have participated in during their college career.”
