144 Langdon Street was doing some serious rockin’ for Homecoming 2008 celebration events.
Whether it was the beer tasting sampler, the Badgers’ victory over Illinois, or the dance music of Suzy Kozar and the Sqeezettes, Theta Delta Chi Homecoming at UW – Madison was an event to remember.
The day started out with a relaxed atmosphere and ended on a festive note as a group of actives, alumni, family and friends enjoyed a warm welcome at 144 Langdon and on the UW campus.
While recalling fun memories of their years in Madison and analyzing the Badgers’ match-up against Illinois at the traditional pre-game warm-up, TDX actives and alums also discussing the future of the Charge and House. This is a crucial time for the House as a capital campaign focuses on its continued existence in Madison.
After enjoying a nice afternoon of college football and a 27-17 Badger win over the Illini, an enthusiastic group of actives and alumni returned to the House for a post-game celebration, which included an outstanding beer tasting event hosted by Alum Mike Brown, ’75 and a fine cookout by the Actives.
A meeting and presentation in the Library got off to a positive start with a state of the House address by president Doug Amen. It was great hear about all the work underway and to meet the actives and pledges from the recent rush efforts. The House was looking as well as had in years and the Actives seemed well on their way toward filling it with Brothers.
Several alums from the Revitalization Group then discussed various aspects of the Fraternity. Jeff Klemmer, ‘90 informed the group of the latest activities of the Revitalization Group and its vision for house renovation, Leadership Mentor/Resident Advisor program and Charge Excellence program. Mike Morgan, ’85 reminded everyone of the importance of brotherhood in the Fraternity and legacy of Sigma Deuteron’s history and long-term presence at Wisconsin.
Jeff presented an overview of the House finances, the status of the Capital Campaign, volunteer opportunities and other detail on the Revitalization effort.
Fraternity business concluded with a special alumni meeting to ratify a slate of House Corporation officers and directors, as well as discussing the details of the Capital Campaign.
The rest of the night was spent enjoying the bonds of fraternity and friendship, which included a rousing performance by Suzy Kozar and the Squeezettes in the Living Room, bar games in the basement and other festivities.
2008 was another Sigma Deuteron Homecoming to remember and hopefully an important and fun step in the House revitalization effort.
